It’s always dangerous meeting your heroes. I was apprehensive about this one, as this is one that goes way back to the days when I was still grazing my knees and learning ABCs.
Yesterday, I met Bosco. Those of us of a certain generation grew up watching this little cheeky chap and his pals. Looking back at the DVDs of the show that were released a few years ago it’s amazing to see how such simple things brought little ones such wonder and contentment.
Meeting Bosco was strange, mainly because the second Bosco started talking I fell under the spell like I did about 20 years ago. I was talking to Bosco face to face. Still has funny, cheeky and witty as ever – it was the most enjoyable and bizarre experience I’ve had in a long time.
I’d really love to see Bosco back on the telly here. Such a fantastic character who hasn’t not lost anything over the years since he first took to the RTE screen. We’ve got plenty of talent in the country who’d only love to have a show like that to work on from film makers to young presenters to animators and beyond. It could be a great showcase for Irish creative talent, I think. Anyone in RTE listening or want to get a petition going or is it time Bosco started broadcasting online?
